[As May turns to June, Aerith will find a simple wicker basket set upon her front stoop with a small note tied to its handle. In neat, angular script, it reads:]
The Princess has awakened, and thus I should not be in need of your expertise in maintaining her greenhouse any longer. Thank you, truly, for all of the assistance you have offered during this time. Should you ever require mine in turn, I ask that you please do not hesitate to call upon me.
With gratitude, Sheik
[The basket itself contains a bottle of fruity wine from At Day's End, a variety of snacks from the Wild Harvest, and an assorted collection of ribbons, barrettes, and other hair decorations, many in floral designs. Is this overkill? Perhaps, but it's as she said: you want to give your best to the people you care about, whoever they might be.]
[When Aerith receives the basket and the attached note, she can't help but feel a little surge of warmth run through her— something that feels sorely needed at the moment, given some recent events. She smiles to herself as she carefully picks the basket off the stoop and carries it inside to thoroughly investigate its contents, but later that same afternoon, she'll send Sheik a note through her journal, her own script flowery and uneven compared to his.]
Sheik,
I know you must have put a lot of thought into this! Thank you very much for the gifts. I hope you know I'm happy to do whatever I can to help anytime, with nothing expected in return— especially for a friend.
I'm glad to hear your friend has made it back safely. I'll have to let her know it was a treat to be able to spend so much time in her garden! Just being there made it obvious there's something special about her.
I wonder... is she your special someone?
Aerith
[She might be giggling to herself as she writes that last bit. She can't help but poke fun at him a little bit!]
[He hadn't expected to receive a response, honestly, new to this whole "friend" thing as he is, but... it's not an unwelcome surprise, to find Aerith's kind words writ inside his journal.
At least... until he gets to that last line. What Aerith does not see is the way he puts his face in his hands and holds himself back from screaming for a good three minutes, because Zelda is now living in his house and this is the absolute last thing she needs to know about right now.
When he's regained his composure, he writes back:]
She is very precious to me, yes, but not in the way you are implying, I assure you.
I would also ask that you please refrain from making such remarks around her should you become acquainted. It is not my place to speak of it in detail, but suffice it to say that jests of that nature would be in poor taste at the moment. I hope you understand. Speaking about her plants might be a good distraction for her, though.
I am glad you enjoy the gifts. Let me know should you wish to exchange anything.
delivery; hope you didn't think i was joking about the gift basket
